Prayer for Easter 2022

Dear Lord, Thank you for allowing us to approach another Resurrection Sunday in order to thank you for your sacrifice on the Cross to save us.  Thank you for the opportunity to change the lives of people because you FIRST changed our lives!  Give me a heart for the lost and the broken.  Help me to be INTENTIONAL when see them in my path at work, at home, at school and in the community.  Thanks for allowing New Life to be a place of refuge for the lost.  Please fill us like never before.   When I look at how you were intentional when you went to Calvary, I see how your intentionality changed me, I see how you have delivered me, I see how you have equipped me.  I want that for someone else.  I want that same redemption, restoration, and reconciliation you intentionally gave me.  Help me recall how I was so I can be an effective witness of your power. Help me articulate my salvation story to bring others to know you.  We need you Lord to order the steps of every family, man, woman, child & teen to New Life for Easter Sunday. We want at least 700 in attendance in person and 2000 streaming online on that Sunday.  They may come in one condition but leave set free and ready for intentional living in 2022. Touch every name on our prayer walls, every soul on the other side of the GO bag or Invite card or LifeChanger card.  Bless everyone who sees a flyer or slick, or the social media posts that they would come to the table we have set for your glory!  Help them maneuver every curve and overcome every obstacle the enemy will put in their way to keep them from being here.  And  Father when they get here, let us be the church you have called us to be. Correct  every logistical issue; bless every LCP from the parking lot to the pulpit; from the east wing to the west wing; bless our Bishop and those carrying the word for Good Friday with clarity and power; bless Pastor J and worship arts; bless our KidsRock and Teen City attendees and volunteer staff; bless every volunteer from now until that Sunday afternoon to make ministry easy.  We trust you Lord that all things will work together for our good and for your glory! In Jesus Name AMEN

LEADERSHIP

Monday, January 24th

Today’s Truth:. Joshua 1:16-18 (NIV)16 Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17 Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses. 18 Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!”

Point to Ponder: Joshua is being affirmed by the children of Israel by their commitment to serve him. Serve others is one way you show your commitment to them.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to be committed to serving others.

Have a great weekend fam!  Here are the Devo days for Sat and Sun

R u in a LifeGroup??? www.nlicic.org/info

Saturday, January 22nd

Today’s Truth:. 1 Cor. 12:7b - NLT-A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

Point to Ponder: Paul continues telling the Corinthians their gifts were given not for them to be jealous but to be used to serve each other.  God was intentional about what gifts he gave to whom so there was no reason to get jealous only to serve.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to serve other with my gifts.

Today’s Truth:. Gal. 6:2-5 - 2You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.     3If you think you are better than others, when you really aren't, you are wrong. 4Do your own work well, and then you will have something to be proud of. But don't compare yourself with others. 5We each must carry our own load.

Point to Ponder: Paul was telling the church in the remote mountains of Turkey that comparing themselves to others instead of serving others was a total mistake. After you serve others there is no room to compare myself to others.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to focus on serving others and not comparing myself to others.

SERVING

Thursday, January 20th

Today’s Truth:. Galatians 5:13 ESV For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Point to Ponder: Paul wants the believers at Galatia to serve others and by serving they lessen the chance they will sin.  How? Because they are too busy serving which leaves no time for sinning.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to serve and not spend my time on myself but others.

Transition to Normal Diet while continue to Establish Your “InQ” for the Year by Doing the Daily Devotion

Friday, January 21st

Today’s Truth: 1 Cor. 12:11 Message-God's various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful: wise counsel, clear understanding simple trust healing the sick  miraculous acts proclamation distinguishing between spirits tongues interpretation of tongues. All these gifts have a common origin, but are handed out one by one by the one Spirit of God. He decides who gets what, and when.

Point to Ponder: Paul is telling the believers at Corinth that there is no need to be jealous of who has what gift.  Paul said everyone gets a gift and each gift is directly from God so there are all of equal value therefore there is no need to think one is better than the other, so serve others by using the gift given to you.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to use my gift to serve others.

Devo Day 17-18

Monday, January 17th

Today’s Truth:. Isaiah 55:11 ESV So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Point to Ponder: Isaiah is telling the Israel nation that God’s word had a boomerang effect.  It will not go out and not do what it says.  God’s word hits its target and ricochet back successful living.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to walk in the success of God’s word.

My Intentional View:

 EVANGELISM/DISCIPLESHIP

Tuesday, January 18th

Today’s Truth: Matthew 28:19 ESV Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Point to Ponder: Jesus’ last command was to go win souls.  The word is not complicated.  This is the heart of God.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to be intentional about winning souls by leading me to an unbeliever daily and when you do help me to share the gospel with them.

STUDYING GOD’S WORD

Friday, January 14th

Today’s Truth: Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Point to Ponder: The first place of our intentional living should be found in the first thing we do - seek God! When we do that God will bless us.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to put you first and foremost in my life.

My Intentional View:

Saturday, January 15th

Today’s Truth: 1 Chronicles 22:13 NIV Follow God’s commands and He will give you success; do not be afraid. 2 Chronicles 20:20 NIV Have faith in God and he will bring you success.

Point to Ponder: The writer of Chronicles lays out the map for success if we are intentional and living it.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to keep the faith and obey your word that you deliver through the mouth of your prophet. My Intentional View:

Sunday, January 16th

Today’s Truth:. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Point to Ponder: The word is the substance and sustenance of life. The word must be studied as it is the steering wheel and rudder of life. Not only that – it anchors you in times of storms. The writer is saying the word was given directly from God through holy men via the Holy Spirit.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to study your word.

Wednesday, January 12th

Today’s Truth: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

Point to Ponder: The church at Corinth was overwhelmed with relationship problems. There was incest, promiscuity, jealousy, and the list go on.  For that reason, Paul told them to be intentional about their relationships. He said don’t bond with people who have opposite spiritual goals than you.  He said don’t be random and lead by your flesh in building relationships.
Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me be intentional about my relationships.

Today’s Truth: Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Point to Ponder: The writer of Hebrews is writing to a church under siege. They are being persecuted for their faith. One of the ways they will make it is encourage one another in genuine relationship.
Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to forge genuine relationship by encouraging others.

 RELATIONSHIPS

Monday, January 10th

Today’s Truth: Matthew 6:15 ESV

But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Point to Ponder: In the Lord's prayer Jesus lays out this manner of prayer that directly connects to relationships. That if we do not intentionally forgive others in whom we are in relationships with then our relationships will be negatively impacted.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to forgive others.

Today’s Truth:. Colossians 1:9-10 ESV And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Point to Ponder: Paul was very intentional about praying and pleasing God. His lifestyle was purposeful; prayer was purposed, wisdom was purposeful, his walk was purposeful and bearing fruit was purposeful.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to have a life of purpose filled living.

My Intentional View:

Devo Jan 7 and 8

 Friday, January 7th

Today’s Truth: 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Point to Ponder: Paul wrote to the Corinthians about their lifestyle should be modeled to bring glory to God. Every aspect of life is intended to bring glory to God.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to be detailed and intentional in my daily activities to bring glory to your name.

My Intentional View:

Saturday, January 8th

Today’s Truth:. Hebrews 5:12-14 ESV For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Point to Ponder: The writer of Hebrews, possibly Apollo, is admonishing the believers that their lives will only grow when they determine that they no longer wanted spiritual baby food but spiritual “table food” to eat.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to desire a healthier spiritual diet so I can grow into a stronger Christian in 2022.

My Intentional View:

We will start sending out Financial Fast Info on the 10th.  If you choose - you can do a financial fast (21-days) through the 31st.  Stay Tuned.  Below is a sample of some cards we have ordered from Navpress.com and will have available during the congregational prayer time on the 29th.

 Personal Growth

Thursday, January 6th

Today’s Truth: Philippians 3:12-14 ESV

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Point to Ponder: Paul was very intentional about informing the Philistines about his struggles and who has made him successful. To reach his goal of living for Christ he said he intentionally turned his back on his past and intentionally pressed forward. The Greek word strain has to do with using every fiber in your body with intentionality. Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to be intentional about living for you this year in my walk, talk and my personal growth.

 Wednesday, January 5th

Today’s Truth: Mal. 3:7, ...Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty. Point to Ponder: In this well-known text we often miss the love language integrated in it. God asked Israel to return to him because he knows they left him because they no longer tithe. In other words, their hearts left God because their treasure was no longer there. Wherever your treasure is there is where your heart is also.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me to return to you my tithe to show my heart is with you.

Devo Jan 4 and Fasting Guide & Recipes/Discounts

 Tuesday, January 4th

Today’s Truth: 1 Timothy 6:6-10 - 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Point to Ponder: Paul wants to set the record straight when it comes to money and wealth. If the goal is to be rich for the sake of being rich that will lead to discontentment, but if the goal is to be wealthy to build his kingdom contentment will follow.

Point to Pray: Dear Lord, help me not to be greedy but content.
My Intentional View:

Fasting is a spiritual discipline used for increasing faith, sanctification, repentance, power, strength and hearing from God. (Esther 4:16; Isaiah 58; Joel 1:14; Acts 13:2&3; Acts 14:23)

Types of Fasting

There are at least two known fasts in the Bible.

1.   The Absolute Fast (Matthew 4:2)

This is a total fast, which includes complete refraining from food or drink for the duration of the fast. There will be periods of time when you can do absolute during the month of January

2.   The Partial Fast (Daniel 10:3)

This fast is from particular food or things that hinder our spiritual growth.

3.        The Daniel Fast

This is a biblically based partial fast. There are two anchoring scriptures for the Daniel Fast. In Daniel 1 the Prophet ate only vegetables (that would have included fruits) and drank only water. So from these scriptures we get two of the guidelines for the fast

NOTE: Fasting is not a diet or weight reduction plan. Consult your physician before you fast if you are any medications or required to eat for other health reasons (diabetics, etc).

BISHOP DUDLEY AND NEW LIFE CHURCH ADVISE ALL LIFE CHANGERS TO CONSIDER THEIR PERSONAL HEALTH NEEDS AND TO CONSULT WITH THEIR PERSONAL PHYSICIAN PRIOR TO STARTING THIS OR ANY FAST.

How to Prepare for the Daniel Fast

Quiet Time: If you don't already have an established daily quiet time with the Lord, then this is an excellent opportunity to do so. Starting your day with God is a habit that will support your faith and growing intimacy with the Lord. During your Fast, be sure to set a daily time to come before the Lord, to study His Word and His ways.

How to Begin Spiritually:

Start with a clear personal goal in addition to our corporate goals. Be specific. Why are you fasting? Do you need direction, healing, restoration of marriage or family issues? Are you facing financial difficulties? Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Pray daily and read the Bible. Prepare spiritually by confessing your sins to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness. Forgive all who have offended you and ask forgiveness from those you may have offended (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4).

Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ and reject the worldly desires that try to hinder you (Romans 12:1-2).

Scripture References for Fasting:

Matthew 6:16-18, Matthew 9:14-15, Luke 18:9-14

Relation to Prayer and Reading of the Word: 1 Samuel 1:6-8, 17-18, Nehemiah 1:4, Daniel 9:3, 20, Joel 2:12, Luke 2:37, Acts 10:30, Acts 13:2

Corporate Fasting: 1 Samuel 7:5-6, Ezra 8:21-23, Nehemiah 9:1-3, Joel 2:15-16, Jonah 3:5-10, Acts 27:33-37

What to Expect during the Fast:

When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. This can cause mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability during withdrawal from caffeine and sugars. And naturally, you will have hunger pains. Limit your activity and exercise moderately. Take time to rest. Fasting brings about miraculous results. Spend time listening to praise and worship music. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mind set on seeking God's face.

Remember that it is the attitude of a heart sincerely seeking Him to which God responds with a blessing. Whether you choose option 1 or 2, make it sacrificial for you. This fast is not about rules of eating this or that—it is about JUST DOING IT—just fasting for the purpose of drawing closer to God. May God greatly bless you as you fast!

Green Goddess Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

1 cup ice water                                      1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)

3/4 cup fresh spinach                            1 celery stalk, roughly chopped

1 kiwi, peeled and sliced                        1/2 green apple, cored, roughly chopped

1/2 green pear, cored, roughly chopped 8-10 ice cubes

1/2 cucumber, peeled and chopped        1/2 avocado meat

DIRECTIONS

In a high-speed blender, place all ingredients in the order they are listed. You want to make sure the spinach is weighted down by all the other ingredients to ensure everything gets mixed without chunks of spinach leaves. Blend on high speed for about 45-60 seconds and enjoy in a tall glass. You can divide into 2 glasses or save half for later. When you're ready to drink the remaining juice (within 24 hours), throw in 6 ice cubes and re-blend.
